03/05/2020 WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the Supreme Court of the United States hears oral argument in an abortion case out of Louisiana, June Medical Services v. Russo. The case challenges a Louisiana law that requires abortion doctors to ha hospital admitting privileges. Kat Talalas with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities issued the following statement:
“Women, their bodies, and their babies are immeasurably valuable. The violent act of abortion not only destroys the lives of unborn children, but often severely harms women’s physical, psychological, and spiritual health. Louisiana is right to prioritize women over abortion industry profits. All states, not only Louisiana, have a strong interest in regulating a procedure which is lethal to children and immensely damaging to women. It adds insult to injury, and speaks to the callousness of the abortion industry, that providers are seeking to overturn basic, standard protections for women seeking this life-altering procedure. The Catholic Church encourages all people of faith to pray about the outcome to this very important case. We also ask all to pray for the women who are compelled to seek abortion: that they may find alternatives that value their health and well-being, and the lives of their precious children.”
The USCCB filed a joint amicus curie brief in the case along with the Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops and the National Association of Evangelicals urging the Supreme Court to uphold the law. Camp Joshua - Our Investment in the Future
Thirty eight young Nevadans from across the Silver State attended this year's Camp Joshua Pro-Life Leadership Camp. The three day camp, held at Lake Tahoe, featured outstanding speakers, presentations, and games. Campers heard from former Attorney General Adam Laxalt, Assemblywoman Alexis Hansen, local social media influencer Pierce Toomey, Nevada's "Voice for Life", Don Nelson, UNLV Students for Life representatives, and representatives from Casa de Vida, Life Choices, and Premier Adoption. Workshop topics included pro-life apologetics, real pregnancy options, chastity, assisted suicide, and social media.
Thanks to Nick Emery, Laura Brown and all of our friends at Life Choices Community Pregnancy Center in Carson City, for sharing their mobile ultrasound unit. The van was parked outside the mess hall and via a display and microphone, campers were able to view a real-time ultrasound with narration. Two things were achieved, the reality and humanity of the unborn took center stage, and at the same time the students learned about a valuable service agency that they can refer friends to. Check out the valuable services offered by Life Choices. https://lifechoicescarson.com Camp Joshua is our investment in the future. We work to provide young Nevadans with the tools to advocate for life throughout their lives. Thank you to our generous donors who make this camp possible, provide scholarships, and keep the price to campers extremely low. This year we were blessed to add five counselors from Las Vegas to our amazing camp staff. With their help and leadership, we are hoping to create a second camp in Southern Nevada. |

![]() REPORT NOVEMBER 21 2018 Abortions in the United States Hit New All-Time Low, More Babies Saved From Abortion Than Ever
https://www.lifenews.com/2018/11/21/abortions-in-the-united-states-hit-new-all-time-low-more-babies-saved-from-abortion-than-ever/ Dear Friends,
Last Monday, Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that an FDA contract to purchase aborted baby body parts for research has been terminated. In addition, HHS has initiated a comprehensive review of all research involving fetal tissue and whether alternatives exist to the use of human fetal tissue in research. In response to this announcement, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Chairman of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities, issued a statement applauding “Secretary Azar and the Administration for cutting off ties to a company whose business is to procure aborted baby parts for research.” But since taxpayer-funded research on aborted fetal tissue continues, Cardinal Dolan also urged the Administration to “act quickly to cease all funding for research involving body parts from aborted babies.” He explained that “For the federal government to create a demand for abortion and use these children’s body parts for research is wrong,” and said that “Under a pro-life Administration, there is simply no room for callously using aborted children to further a research goal.” Undoubtedly, your pro-life action played a part in prompting Secretary Azar’s initial actions. Please join us in thanking Secretary Azar for these initial actions but urging him to act quickly to cease all funding for research involving body parts from aborted babies and only use our taxpayer dollars for ethical research. Your voices are important and impactful. Thank you for all you do to make pro-life voices heard on these important matters of life! I sent out a message last week to let you know about our newest project: Check My Clinic. Unfortunately, the hyperlink in the email was not working properly because our site received a major cyber security attack. There were several log-in attempts from a every few seconds trying to shut the site down! What does this mean? Someone, some where is really working overtime to keep this information from being delivered to women who need it!! All the more reason for us to continue to gather these reports and make sure that women and clinic workers are made aware of the conditions in the clinic where they are seeking care or where they are employed. This project has been two years in the making! We have worked tirelessly to make the inspection reports and state regulations available to women who are seeking abortions as well as abortion industry workers who may be unaware that their clinic is not passing inspection. As we have made public information requests, we have found that some states don't even consider abortion clinics to be medical clinics! Others simply don't license, inspect or regulate abortion clinics with no clear explanation as to why. In many states where inspections ARE performed, there haven't been any in years. In California, all of the reports we have received have been as a result of a self-reported (the clinic reported it) HIPAA violation. The state simply went in to investigate the occurrence, with no further inspection. While these responses are disheartening, they don't deter us! We have made much progress! We have over 140 reports available on the site, and more are uploaded every week! If you would like to help us gather more reports for your state through FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests, email us at info@checkmyclinic.org for more information on how to do that. For your information, we don’t upload reports where the state found “no deficiencies” and we don’t list clinics where we have no reports. The reason for this is we don’t want to imply that we are endorsing the clinic as safe and sanitary because there is no report or no deficiencies found. |
