CELEBRITIES FOR LIFE

More than 30 years ago, Pam and her husband Bob were serving as missionaries to the Philippines and praying for a fifth child. Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminated food or drink.
She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant. Doctors urged her to abort the baby for her own safety, telling her the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby. She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted.
While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times, but still refused to consider abortion. She made a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we’ll name him Timothy and we’ll make him a preacher.
Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987. Pam’s youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father’s ministry in the Philippines. He also played football and now baseball. His name is Tim Tebow.

FAMOUS PEOPLE WHO ARE PRO-LIFE
Jack Nicholson Jack Nicholson has said his pro-life stance stems from being born out of wedlock himself. His mother, a showgirl, became pregnant with him as a teenager and was encouraged to have an abortion but did not.
Live Action News explains: “As a pregnant teenager, Nicholson’s mother was pressured to have an abortion, but she refused. This has shaped Nicholson’s view on abortion, making him one of the few pro-life celebrities.”
“I’m very contra my constituency in terms of abortion because I’m positively against it. I don’t have the right to any other view,” the actor once said, according to a 2003 report in National Review. “My only emotion is gratitude, literally, for my life.”
Tim Tebow No surprise here, but New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is as pro-life as they come. The Christian football player has gained a plethora of media attention (both praise and criticism) for his devotion to God.
Tebow’s pro-life views are well-documented. And, like Nicholson, his personal opinion on the matter is rooted in experience — his own mother’s, in fact. It is widely documented that Tebow was supposed to be aborted. Doctors told his mom that she should terminate her pregnancy — a decision she obviously refused.
Donald Trump While he was once pro-choice, business mogul Donald Trump has evolved. In a 2011 interview, he told CBN News’ David Brody that he is against abortion — and he detailed an event in his life that changed his views on the matter.
During the interview, he said: I’m pro-life, but I changed my view a number of years ago. One of the reasons I changed — one of the primary reasons — a friend of mine’s wife was pregnant, in this case married.
She was pregnant and he didn’t really want the baby. And he was telling me the story. He was crying as he was telling me the story. He ends up having the baby and the baby is the apple of his eye. It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him.
And you know here’s a baby that wasn’t going to be let into life. And I heard this, and some other stories, and I am pro-life.
Martin Sheen This one may surprise you, but actor Martin Sheen is also reportedly pro-life. While he’s an avid Democrat — and a liberal one at that — when it comes to abortion, his views vary from other Hollywood elite.
“He has also spoken out about his wife, who was conceived through rape,” Live Action News writes. “Her mother considered aborting her and, after the birth, dumping her in the Ohio River, but in both instances, she chose to give her daughter life instead.”
Newser claims that his conservative views on the abortion issue were espoused on an Irish talk show two years ago. The actor apparently feels so strongly about the matter that he refused to support President Barack Obama in 2008.
Kenny Chesney It would be no surprise to see any number of country stars on this list, but Kenny Chesney may have taken his pro-life stance an extra step. His 2003 single "There Goes My Life," about a teenager preparing to become a father, has been lauded as an anti-abortion, pro-fatherhood anthem.
Mel Gibson Mel Gibson told Barbara Walters in 1990 that he is opposed to birth control and abortion, saying, "God is the only one who knows how many children we should have, and we should be ready to accept them. One can't decide for oneself who comes into this world and who doesn't. That decision doesn't belong to us."
Patricia Heaton The Emmy-winning "Everybody Loves Raymond" actress has long been known as an outspoken Republican. In 1998 she became the honorary co-chair of Feminists for Life, a pro-life organization that aims to steer women away from choosing abortion.
Ben Stein Before becoming an actor, Ben Stein was a speechwriter for presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. He's remained a well-known political and economic commentator and in 2003 was honored at the Tenth Annual Proudly Pro-Life Awards Dinner, hosted by the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund.
Kathy Ireland Kathy Ireland rose to fame in the 1980s as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, but, like her political beliefs, much of her work has since been comparatively conservative. In 2011, Ireland was the keynote speaker at the Council for Life's annual luncheon, where she professed her religious beliefs and detailed her journey to becoming a pro-life supporter.
Kirk Cameron A former atheist, Kirk Cameron famously became a born-again Christian at 17 while starring on "Growing Pains," which he then insisted had plots that were too inappropriate. He's since been an incredibly outspoken Republican, receiving intense backlash from the the Hollywood community in 2012 when he told Piers Morgan that homosexuality is "unnatural ... and ultimately destructive to foundations of civilization." He is currently a member of the evangelical Christian coomunity.
Jim Caviezel Having portrayed Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ," it seems only appropriate that Jim Caviezel has proclaimed himself to be a devout Catholic. The actor told Catholic Digest in 2009 that being pro-life is more important to him than his career.
Andrea Bocelli Italian singer-songwriter Andrea Bocelli may be a surprise addition to this list. He, too, has a personal story, as his mother was encouraged to have an abortion after she was misdiagnosed with appendicitis while pregnant. She obviously chose to keep her child and the rest is history.
The Telegraph published an interview with Bocelli in 2011 that captured this story in detail. In addition to talking favorably about faith and telling the journalist conducting the interview that he is a committed Catholic, Bocelli also said: “You ask me before of my point of view about religion, and I told you I am very religious. It means that before I fight against something, I try to fight in favour of something. It is not Christian to go against someone. I am in favour of life. And, of course, personally I do not share the idea of being able to interrupt life arbitrarily. But I cannot be the judge of those who decide in a different way. As much as I can, I show them an example and act as a role model, because I believe this is the only way.”
Dr. Alveda C. King works toward her purpose in life, to glorify God.
Dr. King currently serves as a Pastoral Associate and Director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries. She is also a voice for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, sharing her testimony of two abortions, God’s forgiveness, and healing.
The daughter of the late civil rights activist Rev. A.D. King and his wife Naomi Barber King, Alveda grew up in the civil rights movement led by her uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Her family home in Birmingham, Alabama, was bombed, as was her father’s church office in Louisville, Kentucky. Alveda was jailed during the open housing movement. She sees the prolife movement as a continuation of the civil rights struggle.
Sarah Palin
Actress, Margaret Colin, has appeared in Three Men and a Baby and the sci-fi blockbuster, Independence Day, and on TV in Chicago Hope, Now and Again and Madigan Men. A pro-life activist since the eighth grade, Margaret credits her parents with empowering her and her siblings to promote pro-life values. At a Congressional Briefing in Washington DC on July 17, 2002, Margaret spoke about abortion. Following are excerpts:
"We marched here to support all women and to protest the violence against them, legislated by Roe v. Wade. And while many will remember the 40 million [aborted] American children that were never born, I want us to also remember the 25 million women and girls in America today who have personally experienced an abortion."
"And we remember the women who have been rendered infertile or died from legal but lethal abortions…This is violence against women…This is the failure of our American society to help and protect women."
"The 1970's women's movement robbed us of our political birthright by changing the feminist platform to support abortion…Abortion hasn't fixed the litany of problems that women were promised would be resolved." Colin encourages others to defend the unborn, "You have to be brave -- the one who speaks out for a baby so she or he can come into this life."
Dolores O'Riordan: Lead Vocalist, The Cranberries: "It's not good for women to go through the procedure [abortion] and have something living sucked out of their bodies. It belittles women. Even though some women say, 'Oh, I don't mind to have one,' every time a woman has an abortion, it just crushes her self-esteem smaller and smaller and smaller." (Source: You! Magazine, June/July 1996)
Lakita Garth - Former Miss Black California 1995 and Runner-Up for Miss Black America. Lakita says, "If you're pregnant, don't compound the problem by seeking an abortion. Getting an abortion doesn't solve anything. You are much better off in that situation to put the baby up for adoption because you might be able to help a couple that can't have children." Regarding saving sex for marriage, Lakita says: "I look forward to the day I can look my husband in the face and say, 'I loved you before I even knew you. I saved myself just for you.'"
On July 16, 1998, Lakita Garth spoke to a Congressional Subcommittee on the high costs of sex outside of marriage and teen pregnancy. To read Miss Garth's insightful testimony, and to go to a link with her photo, a short biography and speaking contact information, click on: Miss Black California
Has abortion been good for America? For women? For babies?
Did abortion "liberate" women and free them from "male oppression?" Did it give them "control" over their bodies and lives as some feminists promised? Or, has abortion hurt women, bringing them pain, shame, guilt and regrets?
Of 260 women surveyed by post abortion syndrome expert, Dr. David Reardon, Ph.D, 28 percent told him they attempted suicide because of grief they felt over their abortions. (See www.afterabortion.org)
STARS WHO REGRET ABORTIONS COMMENTS:
Former "Cover Girl" model and actress, Jennifer O'Neill, can testify to the pain. She says, "I had the abortion and paid for it all my life."
Star Parker of Los Angeles had several abortions and says they led to promiscuous, destructive relationships, "I used abortion as birth control until after my fourth abortion…abortion destroys self-worth and dignity."
NUMEROUS CELEBRITIES HAVE SEEN HOW ABORTION HURTS WOMEN. AND ALTHOUGH THEY'VE NOT HAD ABORTIONS THEMSELVES, THEY ARE NOW PUBLICLY OPPOSING ABORTION AND ROE VS WADE.
Actress Margaret Colin, in a recent interview with the National Catholic Register, said, "pro-choice women just took over the idea of feminism in the 1960's and said that you must end this child's life." The true feminist heritage, she said, opposed abortion as a denial of femininity. Gone now, she said, is the feminist ideal of having "the right to bear your child and protect you child."
"It's life. It's fundamental," Colin said. "You should be born. You should be taken care of," said the actress who appeared in Three Men and a Baby and Independence Day.
Feminists for Life, a national pro-life women's recently honored Colin and other female celebrities that they call "Remarkable Pro-Life Women."
But defending life can sometimes be very difficult says another honoree, Kate Mulgrew, star and Captain in the television series Star Trek: Voyager.
"I practiced my belief at great cost to myself," the actress told the American Feminist, a publication of Feminists for Life. Mulgrew had become pregnant at an early age and decided to place her baby girl for adoption. They were reunited two years ago.
She said that though "adoption or abortion almost always promises the mother a legacy of shame and regret, I have to be frank about my experience, I survived it. Women often don't believe that they can survive nine months of pregnancy and place the child with an adoptive family. Life is not always easy." Kate Mulgrew went on to say, "Life is sacred to me on all levels. Abortion does not compute with my philosophy."
JOURNALISTS SPEAK OUT: Journalists are also speaking out against abortion.
Columnist, Michelle Malkin, born of Filipino immigrants, worked for the Seattle Times and now writes a twice-weekly column syndicated nationwide. Michelle says: "For three decades, the pro-abortion lobby has succeeded in squelching doubts and dissent about the mass destruction of human lives -- 40 million so far -- in the name of choice. But the truth is seeping out. And according to an account in the pro-choice publication American Medical News, abortion clinic workers often wonder if the fetus feels pain…Haunting auditory hallucinations. Voices from the womb. This is the pro-abortion movement's worst nightmare. Imagine the roar of 40 million tiny voices, all in unison…crying out: 'I want to live. I do not want to die.'"
How many more babies will die? How many more women will be injured? Let's work together to ban abortion. It's time to speak up for women and their babies. For more information, please visit the many web sites listed in LoveMatters.com. They provide tons of information and helpful counseling hotlines.

Madonna surprised by ultrasound! Madonna was thrilled to see her baby living and moving in her womb. When she saw her daughter on ultrasound, Madonna said: "I was stunned when I saw on the ultrasound a tiny, living creature spinning around in my womb. Tap-dancing, I think. Waving its tiny arms around and trying to suck its thumb. I could have sworn I heard it laughing." ("World Magazine" December, 1996) Madonna said this after seeing her then pre-born child on ultrasound when she visited her OB-GYN. Moments like these are awe-inspiring for mothers and fathers.
Brooke Shields, Actress and Supermodel: "Too many people use abortion as a form of birth control. And that's very wrong. I could never, ever have an abortion." (Source: Redbook Magazine, 8/91)
Susan B. Anthony (1889), abolitionist and early leader of the women's suffrage movement, opposed abortion, saying: "Sweeter even than to have had the joy of caring for children of my own has it been to me to help bring about a better state of things for mothers generally, so their unborn little ones could not be willed away from them."
Mother Teresa said: "The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion, which is war against the child. The mother doesn't learn to love, but kills to solve her own problems. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want."
"The way to plan the family is natural family planning, not contraception...This (use of contraceptives) turns the attention to self and so it destroys the gift of love in him or her. In loving, the husband and wife must turn the attention to each other as happens in natural family planning, and not to self, as happens in contraception. Once that living love is destroyed by contraception, abortion follows easily . . . And abortion, which often follows from contraception, brings a people to be spiritually poor, and that is the worst poverty and the most difficult to overcome."
[Editor's note: Natural Family Planning (NFP) is the safest, most effective way to prevent or achieve pregnancy. Couples are raving about NFP across America and around the world. Pope John Paul II: "America you are beautiful . . . and blessed . . . . The ultimate test of your greatness is the way you treat every human being, but especially the weakest and most defenseless. If you want equal justice for all and true freedom and lasting peace, then America, defend life."
President Ronald Reagan in 1982: "Simple morality dictates that unless and until someone can prove the unborn human is not alive, we must give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it is (alive). And, thus, it should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
CELEBS ON SAVING SEX FOR MARRIAGE:
Brett Butler - Former Los Angeles Dodger Great: "Making love is a wonderful thing between a husband and wife in marriage. God promises that He will bless that relationship. The marriage relationship will not be as fulfilling if you don't abstain from sex before marriage. There is a danger of bringing emotional scars into marriage if you have sex in relationships prior to marriage." (Source: Pro-Life America interview 1997)

Dan Torweihe, former leader of The Thunderbirds, an elite Air Force Flying Team: "If I used drugs, had bad grades or had a child out of wedlock, there is no way I could be where I'm at now. Stay focused...do not offer evil a foothold in your life." (Source: Breakaway, 7/97)
Duck Dynasty star defends life, "We’ve been endowed by our creator, among these are LIFE, I tell you, it didn’t take us 150 years, we start ripping babies out of the wombs You have a God-Given right to life inside of your mother? Come on! From the time you started inside your mother’s womb….you have a God-given right to live, for crying out loud…And we debate whether some women has the right to tear you out of [the womb] a piece at a time? Come on…what I the world happened to us?”
~ Phil Robertson, Duck Dynasty
In a culture that promotes quick hookups, scandals and vulgarity, Duck Dynasty is a refreshing change. The Robertsons have good morals, family values and strong faith. Whether on screen or off camera the Robertsons aren’t afraid to talk about things that matter.
The Abstinence Clearinghouse website recently posted a video of Jase and Missy, a couple on the show. Jase is one of Phil’s (the Patriarch of the family) four sons. Jase has a life motto: God, family, ducks, in that order. During this interview Jase and his wife unashamedly admitted they chose to wait till marriage to have sex.
Jase told reporters, “We were both virgins when we got married until our wedding night. We decided to do it God’s way and basically had a godly agreement that we would help each other get to heaven.”
Abstinence is the only 100% effective way to prevent pregnancy and STD’s. Jase said in his interview some people think it’s foolish to talk about abstinence or encourage people to wait. I’m glad Jase isn’t concerned about what other’s think when it comes to sharing his story.
Along with abstinence the Robertsons address the issue of abortion. Phil Robertson made these remarks about the hippie generation at a benefit for the Prestonwood Pregnancy Center in Dallas, TX. He said, “You can only run sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll so far. The bottom line is what came out of that movement is what you’re now witnessing. They had little innocent names; they called us ‘hippies’ and ‘flower children.’ That movement lured 60 million babies out of their mothers’ wombs. What came out of that are universities that take our children and warp their minds – the ungodliness is literally rampant. All of the diseases that go with immorality, all of that stuff came out of my generation.”
Phil is a strong supporter of the pro-life movement. Phil’s son Willie shows his love for children by being an adoptive father. Willie has a video clip posted on Youtube in which he speaks about the benefits of being an adoptive father. The video has over a quarter of a million views. I was personally touched by the fact that they chose to adopt a bi-racial son, Will. Recently Willie and his wife Korie took in an exchange student from Taiwan named Rebecca. They fell in love with her and Rebecca is now part of the Robertson family.

A.C. Green, NBA's Ironman, Former Basketball Star with the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers:
"I'm proud to say that I am a virgin, and I don't hide the strength God has given me. You have to learn to respect yourself before you can start respecting other people." (Source: A.C. Green Youth Foundation, Inc., 1-800-AC-YOUTH)
Eric Clapton: Musician: "It sounds strange for me to be saying this, but I've come around to the idea that sex really is for procreation." (Source: You! Magazine, 8/95)
